Sunny day = day trip

I was cycling home from work the other day, and I decided to take a trip through a local 'woods'. I have known about it for many a year, but never been in. It is somewhere I have wanted to go for sometime, but early morning, as on a nice warm days, the lake has a nice mist over it in the early hours.

I was gob smacked! How have I never been here? It is beautiful. I casually stroll around. passed one lake, then passed another, then found a river, and open fields, and woods. sadly, I had no camera to hand, but this did lead to an excellent opportunity to return.

the return trip was today! :)

Now firstly, I must state that this plan didn't go to plan. 100% because of my own downfalls, I did not prepare fully. Taking a camera out with a half charged battery. school boy error. This added to the fact that I took nearly 100 photos before getting to the area I wanted to photograph (which I never go round to, as you will see below).

now that is enough reading for now, this is a photo blog after all. take a break, enjoy the pics.

Luckily there was no spider in this web! a lot of food though by the looks of it!

you guys know me and how I love a good water picture!

I even found the entrance to Poison Ivey's lair!

River = Awesome!  we all know it!

Alkrington Hall, I will find more information out in this and report back, for now, enjoy the view

Now I was entering the woods, the secluded area of pure bliss

I found a bench atop a hill, I sat there, almost forgetting where I was. All I could hear was the sounds of rushing water, the birds chirping away... well, until the siren went off. seems you are never far away from the real world! And because I'm such a poser and all, I had to take some selfies. the downside of not having the tripod with me, meant that I had to rest the camera on a bench, or on the bag, as such, the photos don't give the full effect of the huge drops behind me in both shots.

The observant ones will notice that this is the opposite view from the Alkrington hall pic, this is outside the building.

Sadly, at this point, the camera died. Like I said, it was my own fault. I take full responsibility and hopefully I will learn from my mistakes. But seen as though this blog was spawned from a revisit, it seems only fitting that I revisit this place in time. and soon I hope.

thats not to say that the day ended there, oh no, I followed this river for some miles, until I found a secluded lake. I sat there, basking in the sunlight. A Lake in front of me, and River to my back. anyone who knows me will know that this was pretty much as close to perfect as it could get! I wanted to crack out the waders and go for a paddle!

I eventually came to a crossroad, and a very difficult decision. carry on along the river, or take the road, and head home. As the early signs of evening were setting in, and as I did actually have things I needed to do (this trip was a lot longer and more fun than I originally planned) I thought best to head home. The only problem being, that I had travelled so far, I had totally lost my bearings!  after about 15 minutes of trawling streets with big houses, with big walls, and big gates, and postboxes on the front, I found a main road. I headed along it for a good 10 minutes before working out where I was, and realised I was going in the opposite direction!

Like I said, the places that I wanted to go, I missed out because I was was too busy exploring. Keep an eye out, and there will be a continuation of this

Anyone wondering, the River in question is the River Irk. the park was Alkrington Woods. Check them both out if you can, if not, enjoy the pics!
